The advantages of topical products is that they are site specific, which means you actually only attack
the area where the pain is, not the whole body. This allows you to use stronger active ingredients because
they are not going around the whole body where they could cause harm.
In some cases, pills whether through prescripton or OTC that are on the market can cause side effects i.e. nausea, headaches, and even liver damage because they are circulating thoughout the whole body. If you need to ingest pain pills with your topical cream,
it shows that your cream on and of itself is ineffective.
Applying ointments to treat endometriosis used alone or in addition to other treatments can be effective under certain circumastances. Topical classes of ointments are:
• capsaicin ointments
• counterirritant ointments
• NSAID ointments
• penetrating ointments
Be careful when you make your purchase, there are many companies making claims that they cannot prove, or are simply
untrue and others that are trying to take advantage of your endometriosis pain condition to make a lot of money.
The key is to listen to others and continue to experioment until you find the right combination of treatments that
will bring you relief. Keep in mind that in the case of this disease "one size does not fit all" as they say.
Effective treatment is literally on a case by case basis when it comes to endometriosis.
